Dead fish floating in the river after the distillery fire, Bundaberg, 1936
contributed by QldPics, taken in 1936
(contact QldPics about this picture)

Lightning strikes started a fire at the distillery, which was the home of Bundaberg Rum. The rum from the distillery flowed into the Burnett River and killed the fish. The fire destroyed most of the building and it was three years before production resumed again. Bundaberg Distillery is still operating from this sited today.
