    Mooney Memorial Fountain, Brisbane, 1879

contributed by QldPics, taken in 1879
    (contact QldPics about this picture)

The fountain at the corner of Queen and Eagle Streets was erected by the Brisbane City Council in 1879 as a drinking fountain. It had no association with the monument to James Thomas Mooney, a fireman, who was killed on March 25, 1877, neither has it any association with the victims of a gun accident in the Botanic Gardens.
