Beaumont, an imposing residence at Ipswich, ca. 1870

This large homestead is two storeys, with a verandah surrounding both levels. There are shutters on the lower level French doors, leading on to the verandah.

Beaumont was built for George Harrison Wilson, a prominent merchant of Ipswich. Mr Wilson is the gentleman wearing the top hat, standing near the post on the veranda to the left. He had a large family of nine children. (Description supplied with photograph)
