The main Home living quarters, Dining, Kitchen, Laundry were all separate buildings because they often burnt down, with fire as the only means of light, heating, and cooking. Joseph first squatted there in 1863 & paid 300Pound for 300 acres in1866. In the 1885 Census had 2845 acres, 2800 sheep, 12 horses, 33 cattle, & 14 pigs.. When Joseph died in 1891 Kate donated a large Stained Glass Window to the Catholic Church in Young. Elizabeth Woodbridge b1865 the sixth child of Joseph & Kate Woodbridge was my grandmother she remembered walking into the kitchen at Kilkee as a child with her mother feeding five bushrangers who turned up and wanted breakfast.
