Nugget Willis was still driving such a car in the 1940's/early 50's. He lived in the Pensioners' huts area of the 'Sandhill' between the new hospital and the Cemetery. Nugget knew only 1st gear so his old T Model moved slowly and with much smoke. Bill Bailey moved also in this mode. He was a woodcutter who always used substantial trucks for deliveries. But 5 mph would have been Bill's top speed. The Bailey/Lewis house, a tin construction, was on the corner of May and Carter Streets, opposite Hasted's of Britcher's/Hasted's Butcher Shop fame.
