Image shows flooded houses in Sixth Street, South Townsville.
The flooding was caused by a cyclone which hit Townsville on the night of the 2nd March 1946. Lightning struck the Powerhouse leaving the city without power and light. Water entered many houses and two houses were swept away at Hermit Park.
