The Longreach Masonic Lodge cnr Galah and Duck street was formed in 1894.The present imposing building is the work of Elina Mottram,an architect employed by Edwards Marten of Longreach from 1924to 1928.From May to July 1942,it was occupied by US Air Force pilots attached to a heavy bomber squadron that participated in the Battle of the Coral Sea.
