Bevan Waters-(right) CGG Drilling Rig

French exploration company CGG done seismic studies throughout the Simpson Desert during the 1960's.
Trucks like this were fitted with aircraft tyres to allow them to travel through the sand dunes. A new four wheel drive was left behind after multiple blowouts and was covered with shifting sand overnight.Despite prolonged searches,it was never found.
