Just 500 metres East of the centre of Hughenden is this historic Coolabah tree. It was blazed by William Landsborough and Frederick Walker on their 1861-2 search for Burke and Wills. They were the first Europeans to pass through this district. Landsborough became one of Australia's great explorers and Walker died at Floraville by the Leichhardt River where a statue commemorates his work with Aborigines and as an explorer.

This picture is also part of the Bonzle Rivers (open in new window) photo collection.
