The Nive River in central Tasmania starts below Layatinna Hill at an elevation of 1010m and ends at an elevation of 230m flowing into the River Derwent.
The Nive River drops around 777m over its 70.2km length.
The Nive River flows through Pine Tier Lagoon (681m), Lake Liapootah (364m) and flows into Wayatinah Lagoon (229m) on its way to joining the River Derwent.
