The Gilliat River in west Queensland starts at an elevation of 198m and ends at an elevation of 82.2m merging with the Cloncurry River.

The Gilliat River drops around 116m over its 1370km length.

The Gilliat River flows through Forty Nine Waterhole (149m), Galah Waterhole (104m) and Grave Waterhole (89m) on its way to joining the Cloncurry River.
