Lyndhurst is at the junction of the Strzelecki Track that branches off to the East and the Birdsville Track that continues North. Just North of Lyndhurst, now on gravel, are the Ochre Pits. The varied coloured ochre has been traced to have been traded by Aborigines up to 1,000 Kms away.
