The Lake River in east Tasmania starts below Paradise Hill at an elevation of 750m and ends at an elevation of 139m merging with the Macquarie River.

The Lake River drops around 611m over its 57.9km length.

The Lake River flows through Woods Lake (741m) on its way to joining the Macquarie River.

The following creeks and rivers flow into the Lake River: Upper Lake River, Mount Penny Creek, Scrubby Den Rivulet, Dabool Rivulet and Micks Creek.
