Previously the Fortitude Valley Boys' School at 99 Brookes Street, later the Infants' School until its closure in 1951 when the infants merged with the senior school at 85 Brookes Street. Opened in 1867 as a new purpose-built two-storey school for infants, boys and girls to replace the former 'barn' which was rented near the corner of Ann and Brunswick streets; the site is now occupied by the 'RG' or Royal George hotel. It later became a school for infants and girls and even much later for girls only until its closure in 1949.
