House built about 1885. During World War II it was occupied for a time by the American Airforce.

David House, built about 1885, was occupied by the American Airforce during World War II. It is a late colonial style house with encircling verandahs so appropriate for the northern summers.

David House, a typical example of an early colonial house with encircling verandahs. Castle Hill can be seen in the background. Some of the early owners and residents of the house include the Dean, Keats, Parkes, Thompson, Norris, Little, Shoebridge and Short families.

David House, constructed about 1885, is situated on the corner of Paxton and Bourke Streets. About 1913-14 this corner was known as Keats corner. The Keats family at that time were renting the house. Arthur R Keats was in business as a Mining, Forwarding Sharebroker and Commission Agent. Many other well known North Queensland names have been associated with David House including the Dean, Norris, Thompson, Little, Shoebridge and Short families. The house was taken over in World War II by the American Airforce. The well known landmark of Castle Hill can be seen in the background.
