Site of Uriarra Village on the edge of Uriarra State Forest. The site was previously a forestry settlement for the workers who planted soft wood trees (primarily Pinus Radiata) in what was known as Uriarra Forest (without "State"). After decades of nurturing (from 1928 onwards), the entire pine forest and most of the houses in the forestry settlement were destroyed by fire in 2003.

The Uriarra Primary School building where the children of the workers from the Uriarra forestry settlement (and some from surrounding farms) were taught in six classes in a one room building by one teacher between the years 1937 to 1968. It was neither the first nor the last building to be used as a school in the Uriarra locality, but it has developed and retains an iconic status.
