Lake Cania is at the head of Cania Gorge. It is accessed off the Burnett Highway 12 Kms North of Monto. The escarpment of the gorge is riddled with caves.

The Elephant's Head is a sandstone feature overlooking the lake.

Although blue, Lake Cania was seriously infected with green algae and was used only for irrigation.

At the lower end of the gorge a narrow offshoot led to the Overhang. The way was strung with these massive vines.

Cania Caravan Park in 1998 was ideal for casual bush camping. It has since been much upgraded and is a very popular holiday and tourist spot.
