Dinner Plain is located just off the Dinner Plains Track in east Victoria a distance of about 220km east-northeast from Melbourne (show me). With a population of around 590, Dinner Plain is one of the smaller towns in Australia. At about 1578m above sea level, Dinner Plain is the second highest village in Victoria. The nearest sea is the Tasman Sea which is part of the South Pacific Ocean about 110km south-southeast of Dinner Plain.

The nearest more populous place is the town of Mount Beauty which is 33km away with a population of around 1,600 (show me a map with Dinner Plain and Mount Beauty).
