    The cashew nut is the single seed of the "drupe" - the cashew shaped bit. Above the drupe is a pseudofruit that develops into an edible false fruit sometimes called the cashew apple. It is sweet with a very fragile skin so they don't transport well. Grow your own cashews if you want to taste a cashew apple.
