Clear-Felling of Conglomerate State Forest, Woolgoolga NSW (19 July 2011)

I didn't realise that Forestry NSW actually clear-fell. I thought that the process was far more selective than what I have now witnessed.

Myself and a group of friends went four-wheel driving through the forest a couple of weekends ago. Where previously was thick impenetrable bush, is now a totally devasted area. Just a few gum trees have been left with the bangalow palms along watercourses in an area of many, many hectares. I wonder how the palm trees will fair now that they are so exposed, whereas their presence in the forest should mean we are in a rainforest.
